Taylor County could find itself with even more visitors than usual during this summer’s scallop season after the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) announced this week it was considering closing the season in the St. Joseph Bay area.
“Scientific monitoring of bay scallops in St. Joseph Bay indicates that the population has declined severely due to impacts of red tide,” FWC officials said in a press release.
