Byrd killed in logging accident

Patrick J. Byrd of the well-respected T.W. Byrd’s Sons Logging company, which was recognized as “National Outstanding Logger” in 2012, was killed in a worksite accident Friday, April 29, some two miles south of Salem.

Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) investigators said no criminal charges are expected.
