A spotlight from Doctors’ Memorial Hospital’s airmedic helicopter illuminates one of two trucks involved in a crash Friday night in front of the KOA campground. Nathan Halleck, 40, of Middleburg, was airlifted to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries after being partially ejected from one of the trucks.

Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Gus Smyrnios reported Sara Eccles, 34, of Gainesville, turned left in front of Willie Calhoun Jr.’s 1984 Chevrolet truck. The resulting collision caused Calhoun’s truck to veer off the highway, coming to a stop after crashing into a telephone box. Five children involved in the crash sustained only minor injuries. Eccles was cited for violation of right-of-way.
