From 1968 through 1975, The Band was one of the world’s most successful and creative rock groups.
From their days as folk hero Bob Dylan’s backing band to their numerous original albums and their “Last Waltz” farewell touring concert, they have often been called one of the greatest influences on rock and roll music of all
times.
Gainesville guitarist and singer Mick Marino has organized a special tribute to The Band especially for the “Free Fridays” concert series at the Bo Diddley Community Plaza Friday, May 17, at 8 p.m. In past years, Marino has also organized tributes to The Rolling Stones and The Allman Brothers at “Free Fridays.”
