County will not be going into the marina business?

The Taylor County Commission appears to be backing away from the possibility of purchasing the Keaton Beach Marina.

The board briefly discussed the issue during its June 21 meeting after Commission Chairman Jody DeVane said he had spoken with “some of the owners” about the county purchasing the property, adding that they wanted $4 million. Several commissioners expressed interest in the possibility, going as far as asking County Administrator Dustin Hinkel to put the issue on the agenda of their July 5 meeting.
