County budget talks open with a projected $488,000 deficit

    Posted on July 20, 2016

The Taylor County Commission began its 2015- 16 budget cycle this week facing a nearly $500,000 deficit, which does not include any possible raises for county employees.

The commissioners held a five-hour budget workshop Monday, running from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and ending with few apparent options on how to reduce the projected deficit. The board is scheduled to reconvene for its second workshop Thursday, July 21, at 9 a.m. at the Courthouse Annex on Green Street.
