Body found on U.S. Hwy. 19 (UPDATED)

UPDATE: The remains discovered along U.S. 19 near the Taylor/Madison County border have been identified by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement as Destiny S. Newsome Darshae of Valdosta, Ga.

A road mowing crew discovered a skeletonized body Thursday morning near the Taylor/Madison County border.

Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) Capt. Ron Rice was the first officer on the scene and secured the area until Madison County officials arrived. Both counties dispatched officers to the area, as jurisdiction could not be established until the exact location was determined.
