The 2016-17 school year begins in less than two weeks, but those parents and students wishing to take advantage of Florida’s annual back-to-school sales tax holiday will have to wait another week.
This year, the holiday will run for three days from Friday, Aug. 5, to Sunday, Aug. 7. This is down from the 10 days the holiday ran last year. The holiday is also less inclusive than it was in previous years. The maximum price for eligible school clothing has been reduced by nearly half from $100 to $60. Additionally computers and certain computer-related accessories are no longer eligible for the tax break.
