Golf carts will be allowed to cross bridge

Despite concerns from county staff over the safety of allowing golf carts to drive across the Steinhatchee bridge, the nearly unanimous support from the capacity crowd at Monday’s county commission meeting swayed the board to vote 3-0 to open the bridge to golf cart traffic.

There are currently four approved golf cart communities where people can drive golf carts on designated public roadways: Steinhatchee, Spring Warrior, Econfina (on Econfina River Road) and the Beaches area, which includes Dekle Beach, Keaton Beach, Ezell Beach, Cedar Island and Dark Island.
