Head Start drops school district as its local provider

With the new school year kicking off today (Wednesday), parents of Head Start students are learning that the Taylor County School District’s contract to run the federal program was not renewed and will end Sept. 30.

What happens next is not yet known because district officials were not told the identity of the organization awarded the new contract. A call to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Head Start requesting the identity of the new organization was not returned as of presstime.
