The Steinhatchee River remained at flood stage Tuesday, a week after the river jumped more than 12 feet following nearly a foot of rain that drenched the region. Taylor County Emergency Management Director Steve Spradley said the river is “dropping nicely” and had another foot to go to fall below flood stage at the National Weather Service gauge near Tennille.
Most of the roadways in Steinhatchee impacted by the rising river are once again dry. Personnel with Emergency Management, along with local CERT volunteers, monitored the affected areas throughout the weekend. CERT members also distributed bottled water donated by the American Red Cross to those who requested it.
