Leon County Commission Chairman Bill Proctor, in a letter to U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, has called for an immediate shut down and closure of Georgia-Pacific’s Foley mill.
The Aug. 9 letter, obtained Monday by the Taco Times from Proctor’s office, also requests that the U.S. Senate launch an investigation into GP’s “dumping practices” and requests the Army Corp of Engineers deny a permit GP needs to construct a 15- mile pipeline to discharge its treated effluent closer to the gulf.
