As people continue to take stock and clean up after Hurricane Hermine, the Steinhatchee roll-off site has become an unintended monument to the widespread destruction wrought by the storm surge which swept through the riverside community.
A mountain of waterlogged mattresses lords over smaller piles of household trash and storm debris. Nearby, a veritable graveyard of appliances has grown, each left behind by someone directly affected by the storm, many of whom have lost everything.
