Residents remain in desperate straits, FEMA aid needed

Steinhatchee Chamber of Commerce President Jim Hunt said Thursday that spirits remain high in the community nearly a week after Hurricane Hermine sent a wall of water through the riverfront town, drowning many homes and businesses.

For Hunt, he had about a foot of water in his restaurant, Fiddler’s, and the entire first floor of his adjacent motel, Pelican Pointe Inn, went under.
