The Taylor County School District’s contract to operate Head Start ends in three weeks and officials are no closer now to knowing what’s next for the program’s 120 students than they were weeks ago when the lost contract was first announced.
“We had a conference call today with federal officials and the name of the new entity was still not disclosed. They said that information may be released by the end of this week. Regardless, we will be notified who has been awarded the contract before general public disclosure,” Superintendent of Schools Paul Dyal told school board members at their regular meeting Tuesday night.
