When Hurricane Hermine sent a storm surge sweeping through much of Steinhatchee, one of the locations flooded was Sowers of the Seed Food Pantry operated by Fellowship Baptist Church.

The charitable program, which began monthly food distributions for those in need in May, had three and a half feet of water flood its building during the storm, destroying its stock of food.

PHOTO: On Friday, Sept. 16, Steinhatchee’s American Legion Post 291, along with the Auxiliary and Sons organizations, donated $2,500 to Sowers of the Seed Food Pantry to help restock supplies after the building was flooded by Hurricane Hermine. Shown above, Legion Commander Ron Hill (fourth from left) presents the check to Cherry Campbell (center).
