Head Start closes doors

The Taylor County School District’s Head Start program closed for good Friday and district officials are continuing to urge parents to enroll their children in its voluntary pre-kindergarden (VPK) program.

Reach1-Teach1, a childcare provider in Quincy, was awarded the federal contract to oversee the Head Start program in Taylor County, but the agency does not expect to begin providing services to students until around Nov. 1.
