It’s been nearly a month since the Taylor County School District’s contract to operate the local Head Start program expired, and the agency tasked with taking over the program will not meet its stated goal of restarting the program by Nov. 1.
The district was notified this past summer that its contract was not renewed and instead was awarded to Reach One Teach One, Inc., a childcare provider in Quincy. The identity of the new agency was not revealed to either the public or the school district by the federal Office of Head Start until days before the district’s contract expired.
