    Deputy killed in crash

    Posted on November 2, 2016

2016-11-02-deputy-scott-williamsWith a tumbling schedule that gave him every other weekend off from work, Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) Deputy Scott Williams had developed a Sunday routine: the morning would find him on the road to his mother’s home in Brooksville and then the two would attend church services together.

It was a four-hour roundtrip Williams had made without fail since moving to Steinhatchee in early 2015 to be near his son, Tommy.

When he wasn’t visiting his mother, Williams could be found on his Polaris buggy riding the hunting clubs with friends.

“When he walked in the door, his goal was to make everybody laugh. He simply enjoyed life. I never saw him in a bad mood,” Lt. Buddy Lee said Tuesday.

Williams died in the line-of-duty early Monday morning after crashing his patrol into the back of semi-truck and trailer traveling north on U.S. Highway 19 (just north Keaton Beach Road). He was 46.
