New year brings new laws

With the new year comes several new laws in Florida, most noticeably the expansion of medical marijuana in the state after 71 percent of voters approved a constitutional amendment last November.

The new law went into effect Tuesday, Jan. 3, although the Florida Legislature and the Florida Department of Health (DOH) have six months to develop rules over how the new law will be implemented.
