    Bethea schools commission on scallops

    The Taylor County Commission has backed off on its efforts to encourage the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) to open the annual scallop season two weeks early this year.

    After listening to a presentation Monday evening from Catherine Bethea, who serves as a board member on the Taylor County Soil and Water Conservation District, the commission agreed to rescind a previous resolution asking that the season be started sooner, replacing it with a new resolution asking that the season opening be kept the same.
