A powerful storm system brought torrential rainfall and frequent lightning to Taylor County late Monday and early Tuesday, dropping as much as eight inches of rain according to official gauges while Doppler radar indicated the totals could have reached a foot in some areas.
Although the heavy rainfall, following weeks of dry weather, resulted in minor flooding in many parts of the county, only one roadway remained closed Tuesday morning at the intersection of Howard and Pine Crest streets.
