Gainesville Jazz Band will perform May 24

The Gainesville Community Jazz Band will perform at the Bo Diddley Community Plaza Friday, May 24, at 8 p.m. as part of the “Free Fridays” Concert Series.

Formed in the summer of 2007, the Gainesville Community Jazz Band is a 17-piece jazz ensemble that plays a wide range of big band styles such as traditional swing, dance, Latin, jazz fusion and contemporary jazz. Under the direction of Marco Thomas, along with the vocals of Pattie Glenn, the band delivers a rich full sound from Basie to Ellington, Gershwin to Miller, Porter to Mercer, Vegas to Broadway and favorite ‘60s television soundtracks.
