Alarming discovery

A resident collecting trash along the roadway on Hampton Springs near Taylor Correctional Institution discovered an aluminum can that contained cell phones and chargers. The individual immediately contacted the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office, which is investigating.

“It appears the cell phones were placed there for an inmate work crew to retrieve at a later time,” Sheriff Wayne Padgett said. “This is a perfect example of how we depend on the members of our community to help us combat crime. If you see something, say something.”
