Review: ‘Epic’ is a fun, action-filled animated adventure film

“Epic,” from Blue Sky Animation, the studio which gave us the “Ice Age” series and “Rio,” is a noticeable departure from those efforts, and while it may not entirely live up to its name, the film is a solid animated adventure with a well-rounded voice cast and an intriguing story to tell.

There is quite a bit more action to be found here than in many animated films, brought to life with some of the best animation yet from Blue Sky.

The film is rated PG for mild action, some scary images and brief rude language.
