I think I say this every time a new Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film is released, but it’s mind-boggling to consider that the latest, “Thor: Ragnarok,” is the 17th installment in the franchise. Perhaps even more amazing is the fact that Marvel is still producing quality films after so much time, because “Thor: Ragnarok” is a hilarious, action-filled adventure through space and myth.
Thor’s additions to the MCU have not received as much love as his Avengers cohorts’ have, but I’m a big fan of the original “Thor,” which took a risk by giving us a superhero movie without a lot of action. It also introduced us to Darcy (Kat Dennings), one of my favorite side characters in the MCU. “Thor: Dark World” amped up the action, but suffered from a common MCU issue: a bland villain.
