Perry man is listed in stable, but guarded condition after sustaining extensive injuries in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday evening. Carl Gross, 63, was evidently turning into his place of business on U.S. Highway 98 West when he was hit by an on-coming log truck–fully loaded–around 5:15 p.m.
“Everything from the door forward on the passenger’s side of his truck is virtually unrecognizable,” Perry Police Department (PPD) Chief Jamie Cruse said. The crash happened in the city limits, in the short stretch of highway between Warner Avenue and First Street. The log truck driver, Anthony Ladd was not injured but was issued a citation for driving with a suspended license unknowingly. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
