William Roland Whiddon Jr., 75, of Cordova, Tenn., died at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017.
He was born July 24, 1942, in Lenox, Ga., but grew up in Perry. He was the son of William R. Whiddon Sr. and Tillie Mae Welch.
He and his wife of 43 years, LaVern Auvil Whiddon, married Oct. 6, 1973. William joined the Air Force in 1961 and served four years before joining the Navy and retiring in 1983 as a chief storekeeper at Naval Air Station, Millington, Tenn.
He loved his family. He loved Jesus. He loved his country.
He is survived by: his wife, LaVern; two daughters, April (Will) Matthews and Sara (Robert) Nelson; six grandchildren, Luke, Samantha, Aaron, Ben, Adam and Olivia; four
sisters, Sue Register, Hazel Pridgeon and Betty Ann Hathcock, all of Perry, and Linda Mae Plymel of Live Oak.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Robbie; a sister, Faye Lee; and a brother, JB Whiddon.
Services were held at Forest Hill Funeral Home in Memphis, Tenn., Sunday, Aug. 13, at 2 p.m.
