    William Robert Martinson

    William “Bill” Robert Martinson, 70, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, in Perry.
    Bill was born Feb. 20, 1947, in Chicago, Ill., to John Martinson and Jacquelyn Nicholson Martinson.
    Mr. Martinson was of the Christian faith and was a member of St. James Episcopal Church. Bill worked as a mechanical engineer with Proctor and Gamble/Buckeye for 37 years, retiring in 2007.
    As a young boy Bill was an Eagle Scout; while in college he worked with NASA on the moon missions. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1970, receiving his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Bill had the recognition of being the first single foster parent in the state of Georgia. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling and collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia. He also loved to go to Disney with his family. Bill helped everyone he knew.
    Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John Martinson and Jacquelyn Nicholson Martinson, and a niece, Shannon Martinson.
    Mr. Martinson is survived by: his brother, John Martinson of Pennsylvania; two sons, Justin Parks and Kyle Wright, both of Perry; and four grandchildren, Ashlee Walker, Kaylyn Wright, Tristin Parks and Ashton Parks.
    A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, Sept. 9, at 11 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church with Father Aquilla Hanson officiating.
    Interment services will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Orlando at a later date.
    The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of the service Saturday, Sept. 9, at St. James Episcopal Church.
