    James Raymond Carlton

    James Raymond Carlton, 73, of Youngstown, transitioned to his eternal life in Christ on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017. He was born Feb. 6, 1944, in Ft. Pierce. Ray was a lifelong resident of Perry and was Pentecostal by faith. He served in the U.S. Air Force, and enjoyed boating and traveling.
    He was preceded in death by his father, the Rev. James Roland Carlton; mother, Mamie L. Miller; wife, Gene Carlton; and sister, Gloria Carlton.
    Those left to cherish Ray’s memory include: his son, Anthony “Tony” Carlton and wife, Margaret; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Ashley, Bradley and Tabitha; four great grandchildren; two brothers, the Rev. Charles “Chuck” Carlton and Rev. Leroy “Lee” Carlton; two sisters, Naomi Carlton and Ruth Carlton; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
    Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. today (Friday) at the Church of God in Perry with the Rev. Charles Carlton Jr. officiating.
    The family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Carlton Cemetery.
