Sara Jean Brown, 80, died Sept. 19, 2017, in Perry.
Sara was born Nov. 19, 1936, in Perry to Eddie Benjamin Sapp and Bitha Mae Holden Sapp.
Mrs. Brown was of the Baptist faith and was a member of New Home Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for more than 46 years. Mrs. Sara was active in the church’s nursing home ministry, and the bereavement dinners provided by the church. In her spare time she liked to fish, but her most important activities were loving her family, especially her husband, children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Sara was preceded in death by her grandson, Chad Brown; parents, Mr. Eddie Benjamin Sapp and Bitha Mae Sapp Feagle; brothers, Earl Woods, Ed Sapp, Bill Sapp and Frank Sapp; and sister, Dorothy Simmons.
Mrs. Brown is survived by: her husband of 63 years, Mr. J.W. Brown; children, Eddie Brown (Liz), Tim Brown, Cindy Stephens (Kearney) and Robin Baker (Ray); 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m. at New Home Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Stading officiating. Interment services will follow immediately afterward in Indian Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Sept. 21 at New Home Baptist Church.
