Paul Leslie “Pokey” Whitehead, 57, died Aug. 7, 2017, in Wooster, Ohio. Pokey was born Nov. 30, 1960, in Salem to Andrew Allen “Boy” Whitehead and Louise Whitfield Whitehead.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Boy Whitehead and Louise Whitfield Whitehead; brothers, Ralph, Jimmy and Tommy Whitehead; sisters, Joyce Motes and Patsy Fletcher; and his wife, Carlene Pickles Whitehead.
Mr. Whithead is survived by: his children, Kevin Whitehead, Carla Russell, Dorothy Whitehead and Paul Leslie “P.J.” Whitehead Jr. of Wooster, and Travis Whitehead of Perry; brothers, Joe Whitehead and Billy Whitehead, both of Perry, and Danny Whitehead of Knoxville, Tenn.; one sister, Jone Pridgeon of Perry; and stepchildren, Justin Weaver, Tiffany Church, Kristina Church and Charlene Hayes, all of Wooster; as well as a host of extended family.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m., at Salem Cemetery with Brother David McMullen officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Florida Baptist Children’s Home in Tallahassee.
