    Clay Milton Callaway

    After an extended illness, Mr. Clay Milton Callaway, 59, died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, in his hometown of Perry, where he was born on Feb. 2, 1958, to Murray Adderson Callaway and Hazel Elizabeth Andrews Callaway.
    Clay was a family man. He loved the Lord and his family with all his heart, and devoted his life to serving them. His favorite pastimes included fishing in the creek and walking through the woods.
    He also expressed his creativity through woodworking, painting and cooking for his family.
    Friends and family remember his gentle wisdom, kindness and playful humor. Even in the midst of hardship, he could always find a reason to smile and wanted to help others to do the same. He will be greatly missed.
    Clay was preceded in death by: his parents, Murray and Hazel Callaway.
    He is survived by: his devoted wife of 38 years, Denise Callaway; children, Mason, Beth and Joseph Callaway; sisters, Nancy Bird of Quincy and Bobbie Gunter of Crawfordville; brother, Murray Callaway of Old Town, Maine; and a number of nieces and nephews.
    He also leaves behind his loving father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dennis and Carol Howell.
    A graveside service will be held today (Friday) at 11 a.m. at Indian Springs Cemetery with his son, the Rev. Mason Callaway, officiating. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26, at Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
