James L. Fletcher, 74, died Nov. 25, 2017, in Perry. James was born Jan. 20, 1943, in Branford to J.V. Fletcher and Mellie Pearl Young Fletcher.
James honorably served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Fletcher was of the Christian faith. He retired from Procter & Gamble and was owner/ operator of Perry Fire Extinguisher Company for 25 years. James was a member of the Perry Elks Lodge. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, and loved his children and grandchildren. James was preceded in death by: his parents, J.V. and Mellie Pearl Fletcher; grandson, Mason Williamson; sister, Brenda Smith; and brother, Donald Fletcher.
Mr. Fletcher is survived by: his wife of 17 years, Joyce Fletcher; children, James V. “Tory” Fletcher (Stacy), and Brandi Williamson; three stepdaughters, Tina Wentworth (Reggie), Diane Watts and Jennifer Denmark; sisters, Barbara Stevenson and Betty Jo Jones; 10 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 2 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry with Karen Cates officiating. Interment services followed immediately afterward in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
