Most of Taylor County’s coastal waters and plentiful scalloping grounds will likely be opening early again this coming year, as the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is moving forward with implementing a “regionally-specific” scallop season similar to the trial season held in 2017.
At its December meeting in Gainesville, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) discussed draft changes that would create regionally-specific bay scallop open seasons and allow a trial scalloping season in state waters off Pasco County in 2018.
