Perry Police Chief James Cruse is praising the restraint shown by two Perry Police Department (PPD) officers after they avoided using deadly force while arresting a convicted felon for trafficking in methamphetamine, DUI and several other charges – despite the fact the suspect grabbed an officer’s sidearm while resisting arrest.
Robert Wayne “Corndog” Cornwell, 40, of Perry was arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine (43 grams), possession -20 grams cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting officer with violence and DUI following a traffic stop and struggle that took place on Quincy Street behind the local Assistant State Attorney’s Office Saturday morning.
