Vernon Blanton

Vernon Blanton, 77, died Dec. 15, 2017 in Dowling Park Advent Christian Village. Vernon was born Aug. 19, 1940 in Sirmans to Willie Eugene Blanton and Thelma Pate Blanton.

Vernon was a very Christian man who was actively involved in his church. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed turkey hunting, mullet fishing. He loved his family very much.

Vernon was preceded in death by: his parents, Willie and Thelma Blanton; brothers, Aubrey, Emory, Mariston, Harold, and Lamar Blanton; and sister, Launa Tuten.

He is survived by: his son, Gregory Eugene Blanton (Tammy); daughter, Angela Clark (Vern); son, Vernon Keith Blanton; 12 grandchildren; former wife and mother of their children, Mary Helen Sheffield; former wife, Barbara Blanton; sisters, Irma King and Murle Ratliff; brother, Ronnie Blanton; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held Sunday, Dec. 17 at 2:30 p.m. at Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church with Bro. Elder Gary Blanton officiating. Interment services followed immediately afterwards in Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church. The family received friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 17 at Burns Funeral Home of Perry. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
