Bus driver fired after student left on bus

On Monday, the Taylor County School Board voted unanimously to terminate the bus driver responsible for leaving a four-year-old Pre-K student on the bus for an entire school day.

There was little discussion as the motion was passed to fire the driver, however, board member Danny Lundy said, “I’d just like to make a statement that this employee is kind of dual-enrolled. He drove the school bus and was also a maintenance person, four hours and four hours. And while the protocol, I’m in agreement with, but I somewhat disagree with the loss of his four hours in the maintenance department, I just wanted to make that statement.”
