County looks to update E-911 system

County commissioners have approved a request from the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) to advertise a request for proposals (RFP) to replace the existing Emergency 911 system with a more up-to-date “next generation” system with enhanced capabilities – including the ability to receive texts.

At the county’s Dec. 12 meeting, TCSO 911 Coordinator Sarah Weirick told commissioners the county’s current 911 system is not keeping up with the latest technology.
