UPDATE:
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) has released an updated report on the Sunday afternoon crash where a seven-year-old child was seriously injured after falling out of the back of a truck.
Although initial reports indicated the child (whose identity was not released) was from Horseshoe Beach, the latest release from Trooper James Parker Jr. said the child is a resident of Steinhatchee.
Parker also named the driver of the truck, Jennifer Grace Haston, 28, also of Steinhatchee.
Additional details of the incident show that the child was riding on a toolbox in the bed of the 1990 Dodge Ram.
“The child leaned over thinking he saw a snake on the road and fell from the toolbox onto County Road 361 (Beach Road),” Parker said.
The boy was airlifted to Shands Hospital.
The accident happened around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 2.
