‘Bassett… A Man of Superior Quality’

    Posted on January 31, 2018

For many years, Perry’s hometown dairy was known by the slogan featured on its signature beige milk trucks and the iconic red, pink and blue labels proudly printed on each gallon of milk.

    “Bassett’s…The Milk of Superior Flavor.”

In the wake of his passing, longtime Perry resident and businessman James “Jake” Bassett Sr. leaves a legacy worthy of his own slogan: “Jake Bassett….A Man of Superior Quality.”

Described as “friendly and genuine,” “kind-hearted and sweet,” Bassett is remembered as a “true gentleman,” an “excellent role model” and “special man of God.”

The youngest of five sons born to Bassett’s Dairy founder Wilmer W. Bassett Sr. and Ruby Burt Bassett, Jake Bassett died Jan. 26, 2018 at Doctors’ Memorial Hospital. He was 87.
