Dr. Thomas Conrad Williams, Jr. has passed away after a lengthy illness.
Dr. Williams was a longtime resident of Perry, where he had a private general medical practice for many years. He was active in local civic affairs and served as mayor during the 1970’s. He loved golf, Wilder’s Men’s Shop, and the Georgia Bulldogs.
Dr. Williams was born in Valdosta, Ga., in 1929 to Dr. Thomas Conrad Williams, Sr. and Nettie Claire Williams. He received his class ring from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta in 1956 and later served as a ship physician in the U.S. Navy before establishing himself in private practice.
Dr. Williams had four children with his first wife, Evelyn: Conrad III, Claire, Shirley and Georgia. He also had two children with his second wife, Cynthia Blanton: Stuart and Savannah. In addition, he was grandfather to Conrad IV, Holly, Nicholas, Caroline and Alexander. His brother, Joe Williams, resides in Valdosta with his wife, Linda.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Adventist Christian Village in Dowling Park. The staff at the Good Samaritan Center was unbelievably kind, patient and helpful to Dr. Williams during his time there.
A Memorial service will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 10, at Beggs Funeral Home in Perry.
