    Carolyn Marlene Bethea Croft

    Carolyn Marlene Bethea Croft, 78, of Perry, passed away peacefully at her home on Feb. 24, 2018. She was born Jan. 30, 1940, in Foley to Loundis Bryan Bethea and Melba Lorena Jackson Bethea.

    Carolyn graduated from Taylor County High School in 1958 and married L.J. “Bunk” Croft the following year. They were married for 35 years until his passing in 1994. Carolyn was of the Church of Christ faith and a member of the Spring Warrior Church of Christ.

    In her spare time she enjoyed taking fishing trips with her brothers and sisters, reading, and most of all, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

    Carolyn was preceded in death by: her parents, Loundis and Melba Bethea; her husband, L.J. “Bunk” Croft; and three brothers, L.B., Leon, and Colin Bethea.

    She is survived by: two daughters, Rene Heard and husband, Mike, and Donna McCranie and husband, Glen, all of Perry; two brothers, Wilson Bethea, and Buddy Bethea and wife, Catherine, all of Perry; four sisters, Virginia Shinholser and husband, Charles Ray, of Jacksonville, LaNell McKinney, Belvajean Millinor, and Janet Wiles and husband, Billy, all of Perry; two sister-in-laws, Ruth Bethea and Judy Bethea, both of Perry; and five grandchildren, Jennifer Heard of Gainesville, Anna Woods and husband, Eric, of Perry, Holly Sponhaltz and husband, Eric, of Pittsburgh, Pa., Benjamin Batten and wife, Corey, of Tallahassee, and Eli McCranie of Tallahassee; three great-grandchildren, Lexi Woods, Hudson Sponhaltz, and Cole Sponhaltz, and one on the way, Ava Batten; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    Private family services will be held at a later date. All arrangements are under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
