Deanna Oneida Mixon Williams, 77, of Perry, died February 25, 2018, at home. Deanna was born in Tallahassee, Sept. 4,1940, to Avie Oneida Morgan and William J. Mixon.
Deanna graduated from Taylor County High School, was a graduate of North Florida Junior College in Madison and worked in Tallahassee most of her life. She relocated to Perry after the death of her father in 2000. She was of the Christian faith. She was a longtime secretary for the State of Florida Department of Archives, Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, finishing her career at Florida State University. She was an artist and loved life. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents: Avie Oneida Morgan Mixon and William J. Mixon; and a sister, Eddie Lou “Wisty” Mixon Hammerschmidt.
She is survived by: one son, Anaya W. Walker, of Havana; one daughter, Lanita Deanna Goram, of Tallahassee; her adopted daughter, Christine Facione, of Atlanta, Ga.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 3, at 10 a.m. at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow immediately at Pisgah Cemetery for immediate family and anyone that wishes to attend.
The family ask that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice or Taylor County Senior Service Center.
