On Wednesday, Feb. 14, Nicolas Cruz, a former student, stormed into Majory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., and used an AR-15 rifle to take the lives of 17 people. It was an event that shook the nation to it’s core. Now, school districts, students and community leaders across the state are reviewing and reinforcing their plans to protect students and staff from school shooters.
Taylor County is taking the necessary proactive steps to protect local students and staff. “In light of recent events, the Taylor County School District has been working with emergency management agencies throughout the county to ensure the safety of our schools,” Superintendent Danny Glover Jr. said.
