One of two suspects charged with first degree murder for the 2016 death of Steinhatchee resident Aaron Tappe pled “no contest” to a lesser charge Monday afternoon and agreed to testify against his co-defendant if called to the stand.
Douglas Mihal, who was 20 at the time of his arrest in March 2016, pled to four charges: second degree murder with a firearm, tampering with evidence, grand theft III of a motor vehicle and grand theft III of a firearm. In the plea agreement, the State Attorney’s Office agreed to dismiss a charge of “accessory after the fact.”
