John H. Compton, Jr.

John H. Compton, Jr. passed away peacefully on March 16, 2018.

John was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was born in Perry on Dec. 25, 1948, to John H. Compton, Sr. and Beatrice Lundy Farmer. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army and Vietnam veteran. John worked in the logging industry for over 40 years. He loved the logging woods, fishing, FSU football and he was an amazing cook.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, John H. Compton, Sr., Arthur “Shorty” and Beatrice Farmer; and his brothers, Larry and Gregory Farmer.

He is survived in death by: his wife, Ellen Ratliff Compton; six children, Amy (Dewayne) Bowden, John M. Compton, Heather (Bobby) Dice, Kevin (Katie) Compton, Jared (Teresa) Compton and Jeremy (Jessica) Compton. He was also survived by 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn (Butch) Cook.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you send donations to Encompass Hospice at 990 Bellwood Lane Murray, Utah 84123.

The family will hold a memorial Saturday, April 14, at 5:30 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located on Woods Creek Road.
