    Posted on May 2, 2018

Lloyd Warren Spradley, 88 years young, passed on to Heaven April 20, 2018. He resided at the Advent Christian Village in Dowling Park for the last two years of his life. Lloyd was born Oct. 14, 1929, in Scanlon, to Sumpter Cleveland and Mattie Spradley.
Lloyd honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Lloyd was a member of both Southside Baptist Church and, later, New Home Baptist Church in Perry for many years.
Lloyd worked in causticizing at Buckeye for 32 years.
After retiring from Buckeye, he traveled the United States and several other countries working as a consultant on new mill startups.
Many may remember him from his days working at Tom’s/Lance after re-retiring or as “Mr. Skamper” in his early years. He truly loved camping. He said recently, “I’ve always been in the woods.” He adored the outdoors and raised a large family in Taylor County. He was an avid Gator fan and followed them to the end. He loved his Gators!
He was a great man, strong in honor, faith and family. He taught his family well and will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Velma Spradley; his parents Sumpter and Mattie Spradley; his son, Chuck Spradley; his step granddaughter, Amber Louque; a brother; and five sisters.
He is survived by: his brother, Wayne Spradley; three children, Christi Pierce, Michael Spradley and Teresa Wideman; two other daughters, Kim and Debbie Morgan; and a special granddaughter Brandy Feagle; as well as many others whose lives he touched.
Memorial services will be held in Burns Funeral Home Chapel Thursday, May 10, at 4 p.m., with Brother Eddie Pridgeon officiating. Visitation with family will start at 3 p.m.
All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Advent Christian Village in Dowling Park. Friends may sign the online guest registry book at www.joepburnsfuneralhomes.com.
