John Francis Calvo

John Francis Calvo, Jr., 67, died May 2, 2018, in Perry,after a battle with Lou Gehrig’s disease. John was born May 29, 1950, in Jacksonville, to John Francis Calvo Sr. and Frances Roberts Calvo.

John was of the Church of God faith and was a member of Northside Church of God of Perry. John worked with the boy’s ministry in several local churches. His most enjoyment came from collecting butterflies. As a young boy, John was an avid reader and acquired great knowledge about many different things, especially, plants, gardening, animals and insects. He was a student of the Bible and knew it well.

John was preceded in death by: his parents, John Francis and Frances Roberts Calvo.

He is survived by: his longtime friend, Pastor Richard Sauls and his wife Sharon; special friends John and Zach Bradshaw; and many others in his extended church family; as well as a host of aunts and cousins.

A celebration of John’s life will be held May 20 at 5 p.m. at Northside Church of God with John Bradshaw, Zach Bradshaw, Pastor David Johnson and Pastor Richard Sauls officiating. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
