Shakespeare in the Park Festival will be held May 12-13

The Southern Shakespeare Company is once again bringing its free Shakespeare in the Park Festival to Cascades Park in Tallahassee this weekend, with multiple productions of the bard’s “Romeo & Juliet” starring TV’s Reneé O’Connor (“Xena: Warrior Princess”) as the Nurse.

“Visitors will experience the magic and mystery of our jugglers, illusionists, stilt walkers and fortune tellers, the spectacle of armored combat, the taste of medieval food and even learn a new skill, be it blacksmithing, weaving or belly dancing,” organizers said. “Visitors will enjoy the multiple programs and performances leading up to our main stage production of William Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ performed in true Renaissance style, on the Capital City Amphitheater stage at Cascades Park.”
